Taiwanese outdoor brand Natuos just made its first appearance in the performance apparel world and we, from Grand Studio, were delighted and honored to be a part of its first steps. As the name suggests, Natuos’s identity lies in sustainability but also in immaculate execution of functional details and patterns.
Visually, the first collection presents clean, organic cuts, shaping each garment perfectly to follow the wearer’s body, whilst keeping a graceful architectural silhouette.
First to captivate observers’ curiosity are the fresh, crisp colors – a powdery yellow, a clean blue, dusty shades of taupe and eggshell, a rich dark green and a bright honey yellow. Those lush tones dissolve into geometric contours with crisp edges and clean workmanship, shaping darts, subtle branding and patterns, mimicking nature. Upon closer inspection, however, one also discovers the pure functionality of each detail – the ventilation features, carefully placed pocketing, adjustability and performance fabrics. All features are executed with great precision, reinforced, bonded, with stitching matched to perfection.
The collection features 12 items for men and women – 2 sealed jackets, 2 sealed parkas, 2 padded jackets, 2 shirts, 2 pants (in different versions) and 2 baselayers (in short- and longsleeve).
The sealed jackets for men and women are very neat with only essential features, including chest and hand pockets and ventilation. With satisfyingly clean taping, they are water- and windproof and have subtle branding details at the front zipper and foam embossing on the cuff adjuster. In defiance of any gloomy fall weather, they come in light and exciting colorways.
Both sealed parkas are a representation of minimalism and architectural approach in the collection. They too are water- and windproof pieces but with a more urban look, sporting a shirt collar and beautiful flap pockets with tonal color blocking. The women’s parka is also adjustable at the waist to provide a subtle feminine silhouette.
For colder weather, Natuos’ padded jackets are otherwise simple and clean, except for the exciting organic quilting – feminine and rounded at the chest and waist for women, and irregular and dynamic looking for men. Both styles are water repellent with warm light thermo insulation.
Merchandisable with every piece of the collection, the men’s and women’s pants come in two variations each – with and without back or leg pockets. Both versions are designed to move in synch with the organic body motions and fit perfectly around the waist and knees. All pant designs are windproof with a 4-way stretch fabric for maximal comfort.
Moving on to the inside layers, the collection has two shirts that serve as versatile midlayers and can also be worn as jackets, depending on weather conditions. The men’s version has an innovative overlap closure and back ventilation, whereas the women’s shirt captivates with a beautiful feminine fit via side darts and similar back ventilation.
The last pieces of Natuos’ layering system are the halfzip baselayers, which come in short- and longsleeve versions. Whilst very clean in cut and fabric, they also provide an organic silhouette and cleanly bonded edges.
Like every piece of this collection, they mimic nature and the human body. Layered with the Fall/Winter system, they provide the perfect temperature regulation, so one is sure to stay dry, warm, and stylish and maybe even brighten up the cold season with some subtle color.
Sporting immaculate weather protection and excellent workmanship, Nautos’ first collection hits the symbiotic spot of functionality and aesthetics, making it a true delight both to design and wear.
